What to expect:
We’ll meet for an initial intake session where we’ll review your history, goals, and get to know each other. We’ll talk about Brainspotting and what to expect moving forward. We might start Brainspotting at the next session or spend a few sessions getting to know your needs and developing a plan for working together.
Sessions begin with identifying a target issue. We’ll explore where this is felt in your body and find a brainspot (position in your visual field) that holds this experience. From there, we’ll mindfully focus on that spot while listening to bilateral sounds, allowing your brain to process at its own pace. You might experience sensations, emotions, images, or memories, or feel the need to talk. I’ll be there to support you every step of the process. If you’re into it, we can incorporate the expressive arts into Brainspotting sessions, alternating between Brainspotting and artmaking activities to enhance and deepen processing.
We’ll meet as frequently as needed to help you achieve your goals. Many people find relief in Brainspotting in just a few sessions, while others find ongoing sessions more helpful.
Brainspotting is available to both therapy and coaching clients, depending on the area of focus. Ideally, you’ll want to join sessions via a computer (larger screen) and utilize headphones as you listen to bilateral music during sessions.
